1大きな数の読み方
英語は3けたごと（thousand・million・billion・trillion）に区切り、日本語は4けたごと（万・億・兆）に区切ります。そのため、英語と日本語の数を変換するときには注意が必要です。

2小数・パーセント・分数
小数点は point と読みます（2.5 ＝ two point five）。分数は「分子（ふつうの数）＋分母（序数）」で、1/3 は a third / one third、3/4 は three quarters と言います。
The unemployment rate rose to 2.8 percent.
失業率は2.8％に上がった。
About a third of employees work from home.
社員の約3分の1が在宅で働いている。
Interest rates rose from 0.5 percent to 0.75 percent.
金利は0.5％から0.75％に上がった。
The rate rose by 0.25 percentage points.
金利は0.25ポイント上がった。
3増減を表す動詞

4by と to の使い分け
増減を表す動詞のあとの by は「増えた・減った幅」、to は「増えた・減ったあとの数」を表します。from は「もとの数」です。
Sales rose by 10 percent.
売上は10％増えた。
Sales rose to 10 billion yen.
売上は100億円になった。
Profits fell to 3 billion yen.
利益は30億円に減った。
Sales rose from 8 billion yen to more than 10 billion yen.
売上は80億円から100億円超に増えた。
5決算でよく使う言い方

6よくある間違い
